About Sebastian Plettenberg
and Plettenberg Movement

Sebastian Plettenberg is a Master Trainer in the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. He was born in Germany, where he began his dance training at a very young age. He danced professionally with numerous acclaimed ballet companies in Europe and choreographed ballets that remain part of the regular repertoire of major European companies today. His choreography also won first place in competitions in both Europe and Japan. Sebastian moved to New York City in 1995 and met Juliu Horvath. He immediately began practicing and teaching GYROTONIC® for Juliu in his studio in New York. Sebastian is happy to continue his work as a Master Trainer, traveling around the world to conduct teacher trainings in the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®.


Plettenberg Movement provides experienced instruction in all the certificate and equipment courses offered through the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® in numerous locations in the United States. It provides pre-training for the foundation courses, taught by Sebastian’s network of certified pre-trainers. Plettenberg Movement also provides continuing education to the GYRTONIC® community, conducting smaller workshops designed to fit your needs as a teacher or a student. For example, Sebastian conducts review sessions in the foundation course curriculum, which are helpful in preparing apprentices for their certification and reviewing new material for experienced teachers. These sessions also provide a convenient setting in which apprentices can log all of the required hours of review with a Master Trainer.

Plettenberg Movement has scheduled courses in a variety of convenient locations, but you may also arrange to host Plettenberg Movement at the location of your choice. Whatever you or your studio wants in GYROTONIC® instruction, Plettenberg Movement will try to accommodate your request.
